In their early years, we teach our child how to count numbers. We teach them by counting their favorite toys, showing them flash cards and counting the things that surrounds us. But at what point should we start teaching our child to write numbers?
When your child starts showing interest in writing, it's a good time to encourage them to practice their pre-writing skills. Pre-writing skills entail the skills a child needs to lean to write. This includes sensory movement skills that allow a child to hold and use pencil that gives him or her the ability to copy, trace, draw and color. To enhance their pre-writing skills, we can give them an activity like tracing numbers.
Tracing numbers can develop their fine motor skills, and teaching to write by hand also gives each child a long moment of practice which is a great way to remember them and learn how to write them clearly.
This worksheet consists of a 10-page pdf file that allows children to practice writing and counting numbers.
